Our Mission Statement:

As dedicated physicians of ChristianaCare, we stand united with an unwavering commitment to patient care. Our union advocates for fair treatment and safe working conditions and aims to cultivate an environment in which its members can thrive professionally. Our power is in our collective voice, ensuring that every concern is heard and every contribution is valued. Together, we will uphold the highest standards of equity, integrity, and compassion, while providing exceptional healthcare to our community.

In a healthcare industry overwhelmingly dominated by fiscal priorities, physicians have become increasingly marginalized and hospitals gradually burdened with more complex layers of administrative personnel.
Physicians are uniquely situated to make an impactful change, as we are personally invested in our individual patients and also knowledgeable about how care should be provided to our patients.
Our goal is to unify our voices and perspectives, thereby reclaiming our rightful place within the house of medicine, and thus positively impacting ChristianaCare, our patients, and ultimately the healthcare system at large.

How we aim to achieve this mission:

  • Establishing and maintaining a seat at all tables where decisions that affect patient care are made.

  • Standardizing processes for physician-administration communication and contract negotiation.

  • Protecting the well-being of our physicians by ensuring safe and supportive working conditions, as well as advocating for fair work practices that help to prevent burnout and moral injury.

  • Negotiating compensation and benefit plans that are fair and competitive in the current market. This will allow us to positively impact physician retention and attract both motivated and highly qualified physician to join our institution.

  • Developing, maintaining, and improving collaborative relationships with other sectors that participate in patient care, including APPs, nurses, and allied health professionals.

  • Supporting our physician workforce by strengthening interdepartmental partnerships and encouraging open, transparent communication with administration.

  • Providing an organized process to obtain professional and legal support in cases of potential physician-employer disputes, as well as protecting physicians against unfair disciplinary and termination procedures.
